Green Smoothie for the People

Whether you're new or seasoned in the art of drinking green drinks, this Green Smoothie for the People will perk your tastebuds up with a tropical feel. I created this smoothie to have a bit of a sweeter flavor with the intention of using this as a nice introduction to green smoothies for folks that are wanting to try something green, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've had many a friend make this for their children, as a way to introduce and hook them on green color in their smoothie (that can be scary at first). Over time, children (and adults) become accustomed to green being incredibly appetizing and then one can slowly pull back on some of the natural sugars by removing the frozen banana or decreasing the coconut water and replacing it with water. You could also make this with your favorite milk alternative, if you'd like. My mind has "no" to citrus and dairy combining so well engrained that it tends to spill over into dairy-free alternatives and citrus combining. That doesn't mean it can't be done though!

Pro Tips

Prep: wash and spin-dry your greens the night before for a quicker start in the morning. Store in a sealed container in the fridge until you’re ready to blend.

Prep: peel and chop ripe bananas into quarters and freeze in an airtight container/bag for future use. This way, you always have ripe bananas on hand. Frozen bananas add that creamy factor to smoothies and cut down on waste.

Snack Attack: this will make enough for 2 servings, so save 8 oz. of this smoothie in a sealed jar in the refrigerator. This will come in handy for your afternoon snack. Just shake before drinking.
