Broma-Greens Juice

January 25, 2017

This juice is a great way to get in your greens with some pineapple sweetness. Pineapple contains bromelain, which aids in digestion, contains anti-inflammatory compounds, and improves blood circulation. Many people purchase bromelain in its pill form from their local supplement store. Why not shake it up a bit and get the benefits straight from the source this time around?

Broma-Greens Juice

Prep time: 5 min., Juice time: 5 min., Total time: 10 min.
Makes: 2 servings (16 – 20 oz)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 - 2 cups peeled and chopped pineapple , core included

  • 3 - 4 leaves of kale, de-stemmed

  • 1 cucumber, chopped

  • 2 stalks celery (leaves included), chopped

  • 1-inch ginger, peeled and chopped

  • optional: ¼ C. cilantro, parsley, or mint (stems included)

Directions

  1. Wash and prep all ingredients.

  2. Juicer: slowly process through juicer. Strain/squeeze through nut milk bag, if necessary. High-Speed Blender: add ¼ cup water then blend all ingredients. Start slowly then gradually increase speed until all ingredients are well blended. Strain through a nut milk bag to remove pulp* or drink with pulp for full fiber to slow down absorption.

* Don’t feel bad about throwing pulp away; you have already extracted available nutrients. If you compost, add the pulp to your pile!
